PREPARING FOR SUMMER

It is FINALLY that time of year when we start putting the winter stuff away and start pulling out the patio furniture, opening the windows, uncovered the barbecue and put on your flip flops, you’re eager to enjoy some fun in the sun. Even with today’s energy-efficient, high-tech homes, seasonal maintenance is important because it helps protect your home’s value. When you’re planning your summer fun list, make sure you find some time for some basic home maintenance.

So what are some things on your Summer Fun List this year? Share your ideas for Summer Fun with us on Facebook and be sure to tag us in your post @BushRealtySystems

This summer, our Team is continuing to donate to Hamilton CityKidz and this organization has BIG Plans to keep children busy this summer but we NEED Your Help! As kids finish out their school year, many inner-city children rely on the food and social programs thru their school. However, for many, once school ends for the summer, most CityKidz families don’t have the financial resources to provide for their children. CityKidz offers a
wonderful escape and support. They are able to offer these programs by generous volunteers and donations. You can help us by simply referring us to those you know making a move. We donate a portion of our income from those you refer to us to CityKidz of Hamilton!

As we prepare for our busy Summer season of travel, activities, and get togethers, don’t forget to say thank-you to the unsung heroes who volunteer their time to make the summer memorable.

Especially the amazing volunteers with CityKidz.  Summer—perhaps more than any other season—has the potential to provide experiences that produce life-changing moments and long-lasting memories. School’s out, the sun is shining bright, and the warm weather invites children to experience all summer has to offer: swimming, playing, exploring and even goofing off!

However, for many of our CityKidz kids it just means two very long and boring months until school begins again. That’s because most of our CityKidz families just don’t have the financial resources or mobility to provide them with the opportunities for their children to escape the urban jungle.

Help us send Kids to Camp!

Please help us help CityKidz who provide hundreds of kids with amazing, week-long summer camp experiences and year round programs to make a difference in the lives of Kids.

Anyone you know that is planning to make a move and you refer them to our Team, you can be assured that they will get our award-winning service we are known for, AND that your referral will be helping CityKidz. For every referral we receive that a house sells this year, we are donating a portion of our income to CityKidz. Our goal, again, is to raise $10,000 to Donate to CityKidz of Hamilton.

Over the last two decades of helping thousands of families, we have met some wonderful, loving, caring people.  People like you!  Life moves fast for some and we are eager to make the Home Selling and Buying experience a smooth rewarding one.

CityKidz Saturday Season Premiers in New Studio Theatre

Original Article By: Deidre Khes-Kovacs with www.citykidz.ca

It’s 9:15 a.m. and you can already tell Susan’s voice is doomed.

EVERYWHERE WE GOOOOO! she chants/shouts at a decibel usually reserved for army drills.

everywhere we goooo call back a drowsy chorus of kids.

“Oh that’s pathetic,” Susan chides with a smile, “try that again.”

                          EVERYWHERE WE GOOOOO! she repeats.
EVERYWHERE WE GOOOOO! the bus full of kids bellows.

That’s better. Satisfied, Susan continues her callback song: PEOPLE ALWAYS ASK US! PEOPLE ALWAYS ASK US!

They’ve got the hang of it. They haven’t been on this beloved big red bus in a while and as their excitement grows, so too does the volume of their echo to Susan’s own formidable chant. WHO WE AAAAARE!

                               WHO WE AAAAARE!

The little-est riders follow the lead of their big brothers and sisters in repeating after Susan. SOOOO WE TELL THEM!

One four-year-old girl sits squished between her two brothers, straining to pick up the words to this exciting song and join in the joyful communal ruckus. WE ARE THE CITYKIDZ!

She catches on and her tiny voice joins the now booming response to Susan’s leading call.

THE MIGHTY MIGHTY CITYKIDZ!

All down Barton, Sherman and Burlington St, Susan keeps the kids singing. There’s only a brief pause in the musical cacophony as the bus rumbles past the Playhouse Theatre. Some kids wave, others ask – confused – what’s going on and where they’re going. The Playhouse Theatre had been the home of CityKidz Saturdays for the past 20 years and now we were driving right past it.

Susan’s bus of kids are the first to arrive at 601 Burlington this morning. One by one they leap off the bus and literally hit the ground running towards the smiling faces of the Saturday Squad staff and volunteers directing them towards the new Studio Theatre’s doors. Lined up outside, waiting to enter, Susan keeps them busy with a game of Simon Says while Esther and the rest of the Saturday Squad make the final preparations to welcome this first group of children into the new Studio Theatre. Two minutes later, Esther opens the doors and ushers the kids inside. This moment had been a long time coming.

Going Deeper
For the past two years, the executive team at CityKidz devoted a lot of dreaming, brainstorming and prayer towards finding ways for our organization’s impact to go deeper.

The new Studio Theatre helps CityKidz do just this. It’s designed to preserve the wonder and magic of the Playhouse, while empowering us with the technological and logistical resources to deliver our message of faith, hope and love in a way that is meaningful and inspiring to a new generation of children. In the weeks running up to the start of our programming, a team of dedicated contractors and unstoppable volunteers worked tirelessly, nearly around the clock, to make the Studio Theatre ready for this moment. There were many delays and stumbling blocks along the way but, united for the ONE, the incredible team pulled it off.

Just for Them
As the children filed into the theatre, their eyes widened and then so too did their mouths.
WHOOOAA…  I wanna go up there!… Can I go on the swing?
As they took in the room, children turned to their friends to point out the different things they noticed: the tree-houses, the tire swing, the elaborate mural, the mock-stone floor. Many of these kids aren’t used to getting
anything new. Hand-me-downs are their norm. But this theatre and all its intricate details were new and were created just for them.

It was beautiful to see each kid’s unique reaction and interaction with the theatre and the live show. One boy intently counted the number of
twinkling star lights: “there’s one for everyone on our bus!” he deduced, amazed at what to him could be no coincidence. Those with birthdays got a thrill seeing their name projected on the screen during the birthday celebration time. Others were entirely wrapped up in the performance, perched on the edge of their seat just waiting for the next dance
opportunity. The show was a steady mix of live skits, Super Squad videos, dancing, and thoughtful, wisdom-filled monologues encouraging kindness and determination.

And before you knew it, it was over. The cast and volunteers waved
goodbye to the kids as they shuffled their way out of the theatre and into the sunny April morning, ready to be kind, ready to be resilient, ready to take on the world.

Thank you to everyone who made this day possible! To the contractors and artists who worked round the clock to get our new theatre looking magical (and up to code!) in time for our Saturday premier. Thank you to the phenomenal donors who gave such generous financial support to make this investment possible. To the cast and crew whose attention to detail made for a flawless show, and to the volunteers who gave their time and talent to making sure every child felt happy, safe, and loved. Thank you for uniting together to make this Saturday something special for
hundreds of Hamilton children.
